Jonathan de Leon is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with more than two decades of experience in behavioral health and psychiatric care. Born and raised in San Diego, Jonathan began his healthcare career in 2002 and has spent much of his career caring for individuals throughout the San Diego community.
Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, Jonathan developed a diverse background in psychiatric nursing across inpatient, emergency, outpatient, addiction medicine, and medically complex settings. His experience includes psychiatric assessment and crisis intervention, nursing leadership, and psychiatric consultation.
Jonathan earned his Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health from National University. He brings a practical, patient-centered perspective shaped by years of working directly with patients, families, and multidisciplinary treatment teams.
Jonathan believes effective psychiatric treatment begins with listening and understanding the individual beyond a diagnosis. He values straightforward communication and collaborative decision-making, taking time to help patients understand their symptoms, treatment options, and medications. His approach combines evidence-based psychiatric care with individualized treatment that helps patients feel heard, respected, and comfortable discussing their concerns without judgment. He works with each patient to develop a treatment plan that reflects their individual needs, circumstances, and goals.
