Our Services
Welcome to Crownview Medical Group, Inc. where our focus is on helping you. We realize that mental health, just like overall health, is the most critical component to a positive life experience and this is what we want to happen for you. We have two full-service office locations to serve you in the beautiful beachside villages of Coronado and Carlsbad. We offer some of the best psychiatric services in San Diego County. We provide mental health relief for virtually every issue including the following areas:
Alcohol Abuse and Dependence
Alcohol Abuse and Dependence are due to many interrelated factors. There are no two cases that are identical. They will vary depending on social influences, how the individual was raised, genetics, possible race predisposition, and the various stresses in a person’s life. What is common in all cases is that alcohol will begin to affect a person’s self-esteem, relationships and career – in fact, every aspect of their life. Alcohol abuse can be difficult to recognize at first. In our society, drinking is widely accepted and often encouraged. Eventually a person may begin to rely on alcohol to get through the day, skip other activities so they can drink, suffer withdrawal symptoms when not drinking, or have difficulty controlling how much they drink. We have specialized treatments using Vivitrol® in conjunction with therapy to help you or a loved one succeed at staying sober.
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
ADHD is a developmental condition of inattention and distractibility, with or without accompanying hyperactivity. This has now become a common problem in both children and adults. The disorder is being diagnosed more than ever before. ADHD may be characterized by excessive activity, impulsive behavior, difficulty concentrating, difficulty socializing or interacting with peers, and family or school performance problems. We can provide an extensive workup which may include psychological testing, evaluating current symptoms, and providing treatment with medication management and therapy. If you feel these symptoms prevent you from effectively living your daily life and completing essential tasks, call us for an appointment.
Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Services
Children with emotional or behavioral problems often struggle at school, home, relationships, and social adjustments. Their challenges are significant but there is hope with proper diagnosis and treatment. There are many different approaches when it comes to treating children with psychiatric disorders. We begin with a complete psychiatric evaluation and then create a treatment plan that is right for the individual child. Our services are designed to assist your child, adolescent, and your family to understand and work together to achieve a happier, more fulfilling life.
Depression
We all have times in our lives where we might become lonely, sad or even feel hopeless for short periods. If those feelings persist over longer periods of time and interfere with your everyday life, you may be suffering from the medical illness of Depression. Depression can distort how you view situations, people around you, and yourself. There are many contributing factors to depression, but there is effective treatment for those who suffer from it. When you are ready, let us help you find pleasure again in things important to you and improve the over-all quality of your life.
Geriatric Psychiatry
We offer comprehensive psychological services for older adults throughout San Diego County. We want to improve the mental health and well-being of our clients as they face the unique challenges that arise later in life. Through consultations and testing, these areas will be identified and a strategy developed specific to their situation. We offer services in our offices, as well as visit long-term care or nursing homes when clients are unable to come to our locations. Contact us to review the facilities we serve, or to inquire about alternatives.
Memory Loss/Cognitive Impairment
Our team of psychiatrist are specially trained in diagnosing and treating memory disorders and will perform evaluations for patients experiencing memory loss. The memory workup may consist of an MRI of the brain, laboratory tests and neuropsychological testing. However, each patient is treated individually and medical workups will vary. Once the evaluation for the patient has been completed, your provider will discuss the proposed treatment plan which includes diagnosing specific conditions, educating patients and families on the challenges and treatments, and providing on-going medication management.
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
OCD generates unhealthy levels of chronic anxiety triggered by repeated and obsessive feelings or thoughts. These thoughts create distress, apprehension, fear, or a need to act out specific things or compulsively follow habitual routines. When a person is stressed or tense these symptoms can worsen. This is also a disorder that increases with age. If you feel you might have a mild case of OCD, it might become worse over the coming years. Untreated, OCD can take over your life. Obtaining a diagnosis and treatment can help you feel in control and make your life more enjoyable.
Schizophrenia
Schizophrenia is a complex, chronic brain disorder that affects over two million people in the US each year. Usually beginning in young adulthood, this illness can cause distorted thoughts, hallucinations, delusions, paranoia, and disorganized behavior. The symptoms vary in every case and increase in intensity with age. Whatever the symptoms, the unhealthy behaviors that result cause a profound disruption of the client’s life as well as the lives of those around them. A person suffering from Schizophrenia may have difficulty holding a job, keeping friends, and functioning in everyday society. We can help you understand the different causes of the disease, and outline the diagnoses and treatments available for those suffering from Schizophrenia.
Substance Abuse and Dependence
People are affected by drugs in different ways and some are more prone than others to abuse/addiction. Dependence is when the body has a physical need for a specific chemical. This dependence will result over time in physical harm, behavioral issues, and damage to vital relationships. It is a complex disease and is one of the most difficult addictions to break – even when a person is ready to do so. We treat a variety of illicit and licit drug dependence conditions. Our detoxification program can include inpatient treatment through affiliated hospitals. These services are independent of Crownview Co-occurring Institute’s outpatient programs. Our philosophy is to carefully guide patients through a detox with pharmacological relief of withdrawal symptoms
